This is a highly technical position where an employee is expected to provide fiber optic network engineering expertise (including FTTH), and assembly solutions based on sound technical knowledge. It is expected for an employee to quickly earn proficiency with software programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree. Minimum 8 years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing Fiber optic projects. Must have FTTH design experience.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position reports to the President of Telecommunications and supports the Project Manager and PEs on a variety of tasks. The general scope of responsibilities is outlined below but the supervisor defines the roles on a day-to-day basis.
TECHNICAL:
Identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, select routing of lines and equipment required for work projects.
Research as-built conditions so city permit packages can be published and certified by Professional Engineer (PE).
Plan and design Fiber Networks including Fiber To The Home (FTTH) networks following construction and government standards.
Create designs and plans using AutoCAD and Microstation.
Prepare Construction Cost Estimates
Conduct field surveys as needed.
Prepare technical reports and studies.
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other geographic data for consideration in FTTH design projects.
Mentor team members in civil engineering principles and how they can be FTTH (Fiber To The Home) network design.
PROJECT COORDINATION:
Provide coaching to designers and technicians of all fiber optics projects.
Review all designs for Project Managers seal YSMA designs.
Work directly with customers to provide an exceptional level of service.
Oversee redlines, bore design, make-ready analysis, take field notes, pole surveys, QC prints, preparation of prints and assist in preparing design work with fiber optic cables to include aerial, buried, underground, and building applications.
Assure city permit packages are ready for Professional Engineer's (PE's) signature.
Ability to travel to YSMA markets (10%) as needed.
MARKETING/DEVELOPMENT:
Assist in preparing technical proposals for projects, coordinate with staff in developing marketing strategies, procedures, and resources.
Participate in professional societies, including attendance at local and regional conferences.
GROWTH POTENTIAL RELATED TO THE POSITION:
Become a key resource to YSMA's Telecommunications Design and Production group.
Develop a self-sustaining team to produce FTTH designs for large townships within two years.
Full Time
