Job Description Job Title: Medical Lab Technician (MLT) Pay Grade: Reports to: Supervisor/Assistant Manager Department/Job Code: Laboratory/7350/7355/7360 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt OSHA Exposure Level: 3 Job SummaryThe technologist performs and interprets standard, complex and specialized tests. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance to the established FMC policies, procedures and guidelines. Job QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required. A Bachelor s degree in Medical Technology or one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences is required. MLT/MLS positions - verification of diploma from education: bachelor and associate degrees required. Licensure/Certification: American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) eligible. Certification must be completed within 6 months from date of hire. Experience: Job-related Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to problem-solve and facilitate resolution to issues; demonstrates ability to handle multiple priorities; ability to make independent decisions. Essential Job FunctionsJob Expectations and Responsibilities:4. Performs full range of chemical, immunologic, and hematologic laboratory procedures.5. Evaluates test results and follow-up with appropriate action.6. Performs instrument calibrations, maintenance, QC & troubleshooting procedures.7. Completes all internal and external documentation as per policies and procedures.8. Provides administrative and technical consulting on laboratory testing.9. Assists in the training of laboratory personnel, other healthcare professionals and consumers. 10. Participates in evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory.Physical Capacity DemandMedium Work: Exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible up to 10 pounds amount of force often.
