Job description
- Customer Services Package Refurbishment and Upgrades (PRU) Engineering provides engineered solutions in support of the execution of aftermarket business. The Controls Design Engineer (CDE) position is responsible for the design of turbine and driven equipment control system retrofits and upgrades. The incumbent will work as part of a project team, led by Customer Services Project Management, to execute orders ranging from minor package system upgrades through full refurbishment of entire packages. The position works with various engineering, fabrication, assembly operations, logistics, and field installation personnel to ensure that project designs are high quality, safe, and cost-effective. The role will often require independently gathering and analyzing relevant data and defining project issues in engineering terms with minimal technical direction. Facilitation of design reviews with peers and team members is also expected. The incumbent must be thorough, organized, detail oriented, and able to convey concepts and thoughts in a concise manner. Must possess the ability to work in a fast paced, teaming environment; capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting various deadlines and project schedule commitments. Excellent oral and written communication skills are needed to ensure that other project team members are kept informed regarding problems and issues for projects in work. Strong interpersonal, good judgment, and teaming skills are also required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Create or modify electrical schematics (ELS) for controls system retrofits and upgrades in Promis-e
- Create or modify project software (PLC & HMI) as required using Rockwell RSLogix 5000 and HTML Editor
- Conduct and attend internal project review meetings (T2.5C)
- Complete CDE milestones assigned via System 42
- Carry out CDE work in accordance with QMS Process Maps 8.3.1.15 (Retrofit/Refurb) and 8.3.1.12 (PSU) and all their corresponding Work Instructions
- Desired qualifications and competancy expected:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of controls engineering experience
- Advanced skills in Promis.e and RSLogix
- Familiarity with QC/BIQ practices and RCCA
