Job Description:
Under general supervision, is responsible for administration and performance of production control activities. General duties within the department include: Administration of company policies: employee training; quality and continuous improvement of departmental operations and processes; establishing departmental objectives and plans in accordance with company goals; and implementation of departmental plans. This position will be responsible for overseeing and supporting Master Production Scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all supply chain operations, either directly or through subordinates, for the purpose of meeting company production, delivery, quality, cost and safety objectives;
- Meets all production, delivery, quality and cost objectives;
- Responsible for planning, coordination, direction and maintaining all activities involving the scheduling, release, and shipping of production orders;
- Oversees the purchasing of raw materials and purchased parts;
- Maintains a cost effective inventory control system;
- Participates with the Sales Department in the development and maintenance of customer based product forecasts;
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance; rewarding; and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems;
- Adjusts work schedules as necessary to meet special order requirements.
- Assesses production data daily to pinpoint trouble areas and suggests improvements, as necessary; a good understanding and working knowledge of Master Scheduling is critical for the success in this role
- Interfacing with customers and vendors as necessary;
- Serves as member of Company’s Safety Committee;
- Plan and administer procedures and work instructions for all primary activities within department in accordance with company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System;
- Perform tasks equal to or exceeding standards;
- Accomplishes production quotas;
- Working consistently, working overtime, and traveling as required;
- Conducts himself/herself in a business-like and civil manner.
- Other job duties as assigned and essential for the successful execution of the business
Skills and Requirements:
- Applicant must be ITAR compliant
- Ability to react to changes productively and perform other essential tasks as assigned.
- Superior knowledge of all Production Control Department operations
- Ability to motivate and direct subordinate staff;
- Effective time management skills;
- Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the Company; .
- Manual dexterity to safely and proficiently operate or utilize office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, calculators, and personal computers;
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods in front of a computer;
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions in English’
- Be team oriented and possess flexibility and adaptability.
- Acquired six or more years’ production, material and planning experience, at least two years of supervisory experience.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent in a related field. Equivalent work experience may be used as a substitute for Bachelor’s Degree; APICS/ CPIM certification is highly desired
