Job Description

Van Cleef Engineering Associates (VCEA) is a mid-size consulting civil engineering firm with offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey. The firm provides land development and municipal engineering services, including structural, transportation, geotechnical, surveying and construction inspection.

We are currently interviewing for a Bridge Engineer/Inspector in our Freehold, NJ office. This is a full-time, immediate opportunity.



Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred (ABET accredited program)
  • 3-7 years of experience, preferably with bridge inspections, or similar field/construction related work
  • PE License is preferred, but not required
  • Valid Driver s License
  • Strong communication, data management and technical writing skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for developing engineering spreadsheets and report writing
  • Attendance of Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (NHI Course 130053) a plus;
  • Experience with load ratings of bridges is preferred
  • Ability to work nights on occasion
  • Ability to work from raised work platforms over roadways and waterways, and physical ability to carry ladders and other inspection equipment
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation a plus

Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, NJ PE Required Minimum of 7+ years of experience servicing municipal clients and/or managing infrastructure projects Experience with civil design, bidding and project management and communicating with clients and contractors; experience reviewing land development applications Understanding of the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law, Residential Site Improvement Standards and Local Public Contracts Law Familiarity with latest New Jersey Storm water Management/MS4 permit regulations as well as other New Jersey regulatory agency requirements Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D required; GIS experience a plus Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Must have good written/verbal communication and people skills to facilitate frequent public communication Exposure to public testimony for Planning Boards and/or Land Use Boards is beneficial
