Job Description

GovFirst is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join our team located in Vicksburg, MS.

The selected candidate will perform standard Linux System Administration duties as required to maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems consisting of Linux based application and license servers, virtual machines, and GP/GPU cluster based systems. Coordination with network administrators is required.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space.
  • Developing and monitoring policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Participating in the installation, integration, acceptance testing, and on-going maintenance of our HPC systems and software environment.
  • Assisting with forecast resource limitations and provide recommendations for increasing the efficiency of our resources through proper scheduling and load balancing techniques.


Requirements

  • General understanding of Storage environments such as IBM Elastic Storage Server (ESS), Seagate, LSI, or Oracle storage systems, Oracle large scale tape libraries, IBM tape libraries, IBM and Oracle Enterprise class tape drives, as well as Brocade Fiber Channel switches.
  • General knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems concepts
  • Experience with HSM software such as SAMQFS and Versity Storage Manager.
  • Experience and understanding in enterprise backup and data protection technologies such as Veritas NetBackup.
  • Tape library and drive storage experience
  • Experience working with Tape Backup or long-term Archive Software
  • Excellent customer interaction skills including written and verbal communication
  • Team oriented individual capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic, demanding environment
  • Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work in a dynamic work environment, and persistence to follow-through on tasks
  • Ability to provide clear documentation on system administration procedures for routine and complex tasks.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with compiling, installing, and porting software.
  • Ability to understand application scaling issues related to problem resolution, algorithm choice.
  • Experience with Storage Architectures: SAN, SAS, FC, SATA, Bandwidth, Performance
  • Ability to manage development of appropriate application benchmarks, analyze results and determine
  • optimal configurations for processor type/speed, size of memory/cache, and memory interconnect fabric for customer problem domains.
  • Familiar in multi-factor authentication platforms and solutions, and Identity Management such as OpenID, LDAP, and Kerberos.
  • Security implementations using multi-factor authentication, PKI, or Kerberos and Unix OS hardening to DoD STIG standards.
  • Experience programming or troubleshooting Python code
  • Experience with supporting Apache Web Server
  • Experience with Zabbix
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite or Red Hat Identity Manager
  • Experience with BIND DNS
  • Experience with Ansible
  • Experience with Gitlab
Work Authorization Required:
  • U.S. Citizen (NO EXEPTIONS)

Education Required:
  • Bachelors Degree and 3+ years working experience, or equivalent experience

Certification Required:
  • Sec+ or IAT Level II Compliant + OS Certification (OS Certification MUST be obtained with-in 90 days of hire, if the candidate does not posses an active one)
Clearance Required:
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret


Solid customer-facing and communications skills Highly dependable and self-directed to be at shift on time as required. Minimum of 2 years experience in troubleshooting complex network issues both circuit and routing Working knowledge of Physical Layer and supporting transmission systems TCP/IP Routing and Networking Knowledge of IP routing, Multi-Protocol Layer Switching networks Experience using a trouble ticket tracking system, e.g ServiceNow, etc. Experience using Network Monitoring tools, e.g., RiteITnow, SolarWinds, Netscout. Education Required: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field or current Cisco certification preferred. Work Authorization Required: U.S. Citizen Clearance Required: None but must be able to be clearable up to a Public Trust
