The Warm Springs Timber Company, LLC (WSTC) is a wholly owned enterprise of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs (CTWS). WSTC is seeking a Timber Sales Forester to administer awarded BIA timber sales contracts including managing third party loggers and road maintenance contractors. Duties include logging and road maintenance cost analysis, negotiations, bidding and associated documentation. Other duties include working with the Log Scaling and Accounting staff on log scale analysis, stumpage and payment related matters. The Timber Sales Forester will function with the entire staff and be exposed to all facets of the WSTC business.
The position requires experience and understanding in the field of forestry including Pacific NW log scaling rules, tree identification, contract management, good understanding of logging and road maintenance concepts and good computer skills. Applicant must have excellent interpersonal communication and be willing and able to work with staff to achieve success. The position requires a minimum of an Associate of Applied Science in Forestry (2 year) and 5 years field forestry experience. Applicant must submit and pass a criminal background check, a drug screening, hold a valid drivers license and within 3 months of hire must reside within 50 miles of Warm Springs, OR. The position is approximately 80% field work and 20% office work on the CTWS Reservation. A work vehicle will be provided. Applicant must be physically capable of working in outdoor conditions with little to no supervision. This position offers the opportunity to achieve more responsibility as skills are demonstrated. Pay is dependent on experience and education.
