Job Description

Job Overview:

Purpose:

The role involves conducting comprehensive engineering studies to support product development, project execution, warranty group, and aftermarket initiatives.

Formal Policy Setting Responsibilities:

The position entails contributing to policy development relevant to the jobs objectives and key responsibilities.

Routine Decision Making/Problem Solving:

This role requires developing effective approaches for addressing research and development and new product development tasks. This includes selecting appropriate tools and engineering data to complete the necessary analyses.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Actively participate in independent and collaborative R&D studies.
2. Provide robust technical support, with a specific focus on process design, hydrodynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
3. Plan, create, and conduct complex experiments to enhance the knowledge base and market competitiveness.
4. Develop models to support NPD/R&D efforts.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge:

1. Proficiency in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and process design.
2. Strong application of process design methodologies, tools, and theory.
3. Experience with CFD/FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent or equivalent) and thermal modeling software.

Required Skills or Abilities:

1. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
2. A solid understanding of process engineering fundamentals.
3. Proficiency in laboratory procedures.
4. Self-motivated and self-reliant.
5. Familiarity with calculation methods related to thermodynamic and hydrodynamic processes and their application in the operation and design of products.

Formal Education: A bachelors degree (minimum) in mechanical engineering (BSME), aerospace engineering (BSAE), or chemical engineering (BSChE). A masters degree or higher is desirable.

Experience: 5+ years of experience with a focus on process, design, operations, basic research, and computational methods.

Unusual Working Conditions, if any:

The role may involve swift problem-solving, decision-making, data interpretation, and results analysis. Effective written and verbal communication is crucial. Travel may be required, both domestically and internationally, up to 20%. It may also involve visits to job sites and client offices of varying durations, potentially requiring ladder climbing to high heights (e.g., burner platforms and stack CEMS platforms). Physical requirements include climbing ladders and stair towers, working on elevated platforms and scaffolding, maneuvering in confined spaces, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., extended periods of standing, using hand tools, setting up computers and measuring equipment, and working in adverse weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications: 7 to 10 years of experience in electronics manufacturing. Minimum of 1 year in a leadership role. Previous experience in contract manufacturing is highly desirable. Proficient in using continuous improvement tools to drive operational excellence. Ability to address planning issues with guidance from senior management. Flexibility to support a 24/7 global business operation, when required. Strong working knowledge of productivity tools, including Microsoft Office products and WebEx conferencing software. Customer service-oriented mindset with a focus on client satisfaction. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Strong multitasking abilities and the willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed. Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills. Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercising discretion and independent judgment. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by executive management.
