Optical Network Deployment Engineer

Notes: Ideally we are seeking candidates with 4-7 years total experience. Higher than 10 years may NOT be an ideal candidate. Candidates should have design and planning experience for optical networks.

• Ciena and/or Infinera certifications or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
• Configuration, build, rollout and testing of new DWDM line systems deployments, calibration, verification, BERT, etc.
• Expert working knowledge on DWDM components such as ROADM, Mux/Demux, Amplifiers, Transponders. Channel creation, optimization.
• Deployment and commissioning of Optical devices such as Ciena and Infinera in new PoPs and Datacenter builds.
• Solid understanding and configuration experience of Channel builds and cross-connect builds.
• Good knowledge on DWDM testing methods and tools.
• Solid understanding of Fiber optic technology including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies.
• Experience in Chassis installation, line cards installs PCR's and structure fiber installation
• Experience in device installation and testing, software/firmware upgrade, re-bootstrapping and decommission.
• Experience in network optimization (re-stripes, migrations, upgrades, swaps, capacity upgrades).
• Creating Bill of Materials and JSN's, (Job Start Notification) for deployments and upgrades.
• Excellent experience in maintaining documentation and teamwork.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent time management and organization skills.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and utilize
• troubleshooting skills, systems and tools, and creative problem-solving abilities under pressure.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• CCNA/JNCIA or equivalent knowledge is a plus
