Company Description

Crete Veterinary Clinic is a well-established (40 years), progressive, fast paced mixed animal practice located in Crete Nebraska. This is currently a two-doctor practice. We see on average, dependent on season, 50% large animal and 50% small animal in the clinic. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including Preventative Care, Surgery, Urgent Care, Dentistry, In-House Diagnostics, Digital full body radiology, Ultrasonography, Grooming, Vacation Boarding.

The large animal practice consists of cow/calf, primary equine care, equine reproduction, and some feedlot, swine, poultry, and small ruminant work. After hours emergencies are provided for our large animal clients.

The small animal practice includes preventative and sick care, dental, and surgeries (including emergent, routine spay/neuters. and some orthopedic).

Our cow calf work includes pregnancy checking, ultrasound work, bull fertility exams, calving season work and vaccination programs. The small animal practice includes examinations, dental and basic surgeries. Support staff consists of practice manager (who is also a technician) and 3 other full-time technicians. There is a strong team-based atmosphere here amongst technicians and veterinarians.

Crete Veterinary Clinic is located in Crete, Nebraska. The proximity to Lincoln allows for easy commute to shopping and entertainment while still enjoying a rural setting. Crete and Lincoln public schools are well regarded, making it an ideal area to raise a family! Popular activities in the area include hiking, boating, fishing, with many trails and parks located in the area. The South-East Nebraska region has a strong equestrian community as well. Crete, Nebraska is a wonderful place to enjoy a healthy and active work-life balance.


We re looking for:
  • Second Full Time Veterinarian
  • Compassionate, Team Player and Strong Communicator
  • Proficient in general medicine and surgery
  • A candidate who has a passion for mixed practice, with special interests in large animal medicine and emergency work.
  • Experience preferred but new graduates seeking mentorship are encouraged to apply!

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to be confident around animals (i.e., dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc. Candidate to confirm species treated with practice leadership for additional clarity.)
  • Client needs and work volume may occasionally require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job. This position may require special working hours, including working weekends, evenings and/or holidays.
  • Must have mental capacity and processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderately high. Ear plugs will be available upon request.
  • Job requires sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform required duties while working.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate other equipment as required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hospital teammates are routinely exposed to a variety of animals that may bite, kick or scratch, and on occasion, may be exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological or zoonotic hazards and/or medication/controlled substances.



Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
  • Current DEA License or obtained upon hire
  • Active Veterinary State License
  • USDA Accreditation or obtained upon hire
