Responsibilities
As a Reliability Engineer at Eastman, you’ll support efforts in our manufacturing plants to improve process and equipment reliability. You will be assigned to a specific area of the plant and work with Maintenance, Engineering and Operations to identify, prioritize, and execute improvement opportunities and to achieve reliability, failure elimination, and cost reduction goals.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Partner closely with area operations to improve equipment availability and process reliability reducing unplanned production losses.
- Lead projects that provide engineered solutions to complex problems that increase equipment and process reliability.
- Partner with area maintenance to target reliability and maintainability issues, reduce cost, and improve productivity
- Partner support for plant outages and shutdowns as requested.
- Understand and utilize Lean Six Sigma tools for problem solving and risk elimination.
- Support initiatives in assigned area.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for reliability improvements by mining information from SAP, reliability systems, and production logs.
- Lead and manage Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations.
- Manage FMEA analyses on critical production assets.
- Provide reliability input to capital projects as requested.
- Provide technical leadership at all levels of the plant organization with special emphasis on interfacing with maintenance crews.
- Guide problem solving teams to identify, design and implement improvements.
- Work safely and promote the Eastman safety vision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong basic engineering and reliability engineering skills, with the desire to learn advanced reliability engineering principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.
- Experience managing equipment preventive and predictive maintenance plan with asset management software (SAP preferred).
- Knowledge of common process equipment (pumps, fans, agitators, motors, valves, instrumentation etc.).
- Basic knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
- Understanding of common predictive and diagnostic technologies for rotating and fixed equipment.
- Must be highly-motivated, self-directed, and able to manage own project portfolio.
- Desire and ability to work in the field with mechanics and operators as necessary in response to urgent critical equipment troubleshooting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
- Effective group facilitation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with and lead cross-functional working teams.
