MDG is hiring! We are looking for a media buyer to join the team.
Our ideal candidate will play an integral role in buying media for our clients and will handle all traditional and digital media requests, working closely with and reporting directly to our Director of Integrated Media. The media buyer will develop and maintain strong knowledge of our clients businesses and apply their media experience to help meet clients needs and deliver their objectives. They will be the day-to-day steward of all media buys, including maintaining accurate budgets and flow of media activity. The media buyer will be client facing and canbe a part of client presentations and new business pitches.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate strong understanding of media fundamentals, including media math, target audience development, and KPI goals
- Develop media strategy and plans with sound rationale to back up recommendations
- Buy traditional and digital media, such as TV, radio, OOH, display, streaming audio, etc.
- Gather and analyze appropriate research to provide sound, strategic, consumer insights-driven media recommendations
- Create flowcharts, budget sheets, and PowerPoint presentations
- Manage the execution of the media plan(s) and maintain monthly and annual budgets
- Establish a collaborative working relationship with the account team to ensure that media strategies are being delivered and brand goals/client needs are being met within a timely manner
- Identify and recommend added-value opportunities to gain optimum brand exposure
- Ensure proper execution of media plans by monitoring buys/schedules
- Establish professional rapport with sales representatives and keep up-to-date on category/industry trends
- Perform monthly or as-needed reporting for the clients and account team, providing insight into performance
- Write POVs on new media and/or client inquiries
- Prepare insertion orders per approved media budgets
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in advertising/marketing or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of media-buying experience at an advertising agency
- Detail-oriented individual with excellent written and verbal skills
- Proficient in working with Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail/G-Suite
- Media-buying software experience is a plus
- Analytical skills and assembling performance reports
- Positive person who thrives on working with others as a team, but can also work autonomously to complete projects
- Maintain excellent media vendor relationships and can negotiate to achieve the best results for our clients
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapting easily to changes in requests
- Client-facing experience and presentation skills a plus
- Experience buying digital media is required (Programmatic media and digital display, etc)
- Experience buying traditional media is desirable, but not required
- Ability to analyze results from media campaigns is a plus
