Job Description



Job Title: Learning Support Coordinator

Location: Coventry, West Midlands

Job Types: Manager

Salary: 32,000 - 34,000

Responsible to: Education Manager

Responsible for: Learning and Pastoral support for learners at [Company Name]

Liaise with: External Agencies, Learners, Freelance Staff, Project Partners, Ofsted, and Funding Bodies.

Purpose of the Role:
This is a leadership role within the operations team, contributing to the strategic management and development of all aspects of quality.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver learning support across all provision, ensuring that the appropriate resources are secured, and staff are skilled and effectively deployed to provide high-quality learning support.
- Manage the transition process for high-needs learners starting at [Company Name], through attendance at annual reviews and the development of innovative, engaging, and tailored transition activities to ensure learners are prepared for training with [Company Name].
- Keep abreast of funding issues associated with Additional Learning Support and ensure that [Company Name] has accurate, current, and useful management information on the deployment and effectiveness of funded provision.
- Be accountable for ensuring that the records of additional support provision are kept accurately up-to-date in readiness for Ofsted inspection.
- Conduct appropriate audits and observations of learning support practitioners and learners receiving support.
- Ensure that all Learning Support Practitioners and Work Based Tutors are clear, focused, and supported to be able to deliver high-quality learning and teaching resulting in high success and achievement.
- Line manage Learning Support Practitioners, including BSL signers, to include staff recruitment, induction process, performance, and review plus timetabling in accordance with [Company Name] policies and procedures.
- Develop and manage integrated and user-friendly processes and procedures to maintain records covering all aspects of learner contact, capturing all forms of disclosure (e.g., additional support needs and safeguarding), and ensuring efficient creation of individual support plans and effective internal communication.
- Lead on special educational needs provision liaising with learners, Tutors, and other stakeholders/agencies.
- Lead on the management of high-needs learners, including application, allocation of funding, monitoring and reviewing of progress, retention and achievement, ensuring learners achieve at the same rate as their peers and that there are no achievement gaps.
- Lead on the continuous implementation of SEND reform, ensuring that [Company Name] is compliant in its duty and meeting the needs of all learners.
- Lead on the development and integration of assistive technology to promote differentiation and independent learning.
- Ensure Education, Health and Care Plans are integrated into delivery, monitored, and reviewed in accordance with local authority timescales.
- Ensure systems and processes for identifying and assessing learner needs are effective and that key information regarding learner needs is communicated to teaching and relevant support staff.
- Ensure Exam Access Arrangements are undertaken and completed to deadline in line with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
- Manage processes to ensure that learning support is reviewed regularly while on the program and reviewed in a timely manner to enable learners to progress.
- Undertake learning walks and observations as part of the quality assurance process to ensure high-quality support is consistent across all classes and for all learners, and support strategies are effective.
- Monitor and manage achievement gaps between different groups of learners and ensure that learners with learning difficulties and disabilities achieve in line with their peers.
- Continuously monitor, develop, and maintain own CPD and for all staff, to ensure specialist training needs are identified and addressed.
- In collaboration with Quality team, Managers, leads, and Tutors to ensure learning support is embedded for both 16-18 and 19+ learners.
- Manage the collection of data, data handling systems, and the production of data reports. Work closely with MIS for whole college reporting on Learner Support.
- Support the safeguarding team as a Designated Safeguarding Team with pastoral and wellbeing support using our learner assistance program Life and Progress.
