Location: Altrincham College (South Manchester Learning Trust), Trafford LA

Start Date: November 2023 or earlier if possible

Altrincham College (part of the South Manchester Learning Trust) is an over-subscribed 11-18 academy set in the pleasant South Manchester suburbs of Hale / Timperley, on the Manchester / Trafford border. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.

Our vision is to nurture well-rounded citizens of the future who are knowledgeable, happy and resilient so that they make a valuable contribution to the world in which they live, and are empowered to make informed and positive life choices.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our great team at Altrincham College as a Site Manager whilst also playing a key role in working with our Project Management Consultants to ensure a successful expansion of this heavily oversubscribed school!

All staff who work at Altrincham College and within our Trust benefit from the highest quality professional development, thus allowing them to be the best they can be in their field. We support training on and off site, online learning and personalised professional development around leadership and management.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager who will work alongside our existing site staff to undertake all the usual aspects of school site management in order to ensure our school is clean, secure and compliant at all times, whilst responding to the ever-changing priorities during the school day.

Working as part of this important team, you will be required to carry out the duties detailed in the attached job description to the highest possible standard. In addition to the duties within the job description for this position, due to a large-scale expansion taking place at the school next year, you will be required to use your project management skills and experience to liaise with a large number of contractors who will be onsite during the length of the expansion project, assisting with access and egress issues, safeguarding controls, ensuring the safety of all staff and students, whilst ensuring that the rest of the school site is running as normal.

This may suit an existing School Site Manager looking for progression or someone who has worked within a similar site management role looking for a change of direction.

The Site Manager at Altrincham College sits on the Academy Leadership Team who meet regularly with the Headteacher and other Senior Team Leaders to ensure a highly effective, smooth-running school at all times. There will also be opportunity to work with colleagues at Reddish Vale High School to share best practice or training.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding and some experience of:

  • Planning and implementation of site projects.
  • Staff supervision.
  • Basic building maintenance.
  • Sound Health & Safety procedures.
  • Using their own initiative and problem solving independently.
  • Working to tight deadlines as and when required to do so.

In return we can offer:

  • Competitive salary and holiday allowance.
  • High-quality training/CPD opportunities in a friendly, supportive environment.
  • On-site parking.
  • Excellent Local Government pension scheme.
  • Staff uniform.
  • On-site canteen facilities.
  • An engaging, creative and welcoming environment for learners who take pride in their school.
  • An inclusive and collaborative approach to all tasks.
  • The support of a talented, highly motivated, committed and professional team of colleagues.
  • An actively supportive Trust Board, Governing Body and Senior Leadership Team.
  • A great place to work!

If you would like to apply to be part of the Altrincham College (South Manchester Learning Trust) team, please visit the school website at for an application form and more details. Alternatively, please call Miss Jodie Urmston, PA to the Headteacher, on telephone number 0 or e-mail to find out more about our exciting opportunity.
