Senior Data Analyst

Work Schedule: Hybrid (Lorton, VA)

• Serves as SME and senior advisor to and directly supports the Chief Data Officer with regard to development and implementation of the DoD Data, Analytics, and AI Strategy within the agency.
  
• Maintains broad situational awareness in support of the IT-KT mission and future strategy, advising Leadership, as appropriate.
  
• Provide SME across data management domains, such as data governance, data strategy, data architecture, metadata management, data requirements, data engineering, data quality, and data integration.
  
• Participating in DoD and the Client team and other external meetings and working groups.
  
• Coordinate with external stakeholders, unified combatant commands (CCMDs), Defense Agencies, etc., concerning their data and analytic requirements.
  
• Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and white papers for senior leadership by analyzing and interpreting data. Clearly presents (oral and written) project goals, project progress, ideas, dashboards, data analysis, plans, and strategies.
  
• Investigate existing systems and technologies and document data sources, technologies, and analytics products.
  
• Define standards and attributes needed for an Enterprise Data Catalog.
  
• Coordination of data use cases and needs across the agency and with external partners.
  
• Lead/Coordinate pilot projects or Proof of Concepts involving data analytics projects.
  
• Providing support to various business process improvement efforts.
  
• Overall stakeholder engagement facilitation.
  
• Additional duties as assigned.
  

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor s degree and 5+ years or Master s and 3+ years of related experience
  
• Strong problem-solving, systems analysis, planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  
• Strong foundation in applying data management domains with the ability to communicate data management concepts and best practices to data engineers, data architects, and data stewards, to support implementing a data management framework.
  
• Understanding of related technologies (e.g., relational and non-relational databases, cloud platforms, data catalogs, data modeling, ETL, SQL, and Python).
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office tool suites
  
• Data Management life cycle, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Databricks, BI tools (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy, etc.)
  
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  
• Ability to learn technologies proactively and quickly and solve problems
  
• Strong attention to detail, oral and written communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  
• Top Secret / SCI clearance required
  

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with the U.S. government on areas concerning national security.
