Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Category Specialist for the Beauty/ Food/Home team. As a Category Specialist you will work closely with our merchandisers to maximize the margins and net profit of the assigned brands/products through multiple strategies. These strategies include online promotion events, content marketing, sales forecasting and market analysis.


Job Responsibilities:

Product Strategy:

  • Work closely with the purchasing team, collect and provide customer insights to identify new products, and promote new products.

  • Be responsible for the health and efficiency of the product line, continuously develop new products, and eliminate low-efficiency products.

  • Develop and maintain the product content and price of each product, be responsible for the conversion rate of each product.


Marketing:

  • Manage and own the promotional strategy and planning across all channels including iteration, developing a bundling strategy, modeling, forecasting, and post-analysis reporting to inform our decision-making on future programs.

  • Maintain the inventory healthy by working closely with purchasing teams, identify slow-moving products, increase exposure and conversion of slow-moving products.

  • Work closely with different channels and design teams to deliver high conversion campaigns and drive category growth.

  • Work closely with vendors and brands to deliver high-quality branding campaigns that drive brand awareness.


Customer Experience:

  • Continuously improve the customer experience of the category.

  • Be responsible for the customer metrics of the category, continuously increase the retention rate and customer frequency of the category.


Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Marketing or a related field or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in e-commerce marketing

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in bilingual language English & Mandarin


Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Familiar with Asian food and cosmetic products

  • Strong analytical skills, proficient in using Microsoft Excel, familiarity with SQL and Tableau preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player

  • Japanese or Korean language skill is a big plus

  • Experience in developing product requirements and working with product managers



Job Responsibilities: Sourcing & Procurement Generate purchase orders, follow up with POs, confirm the status and ensure delivery daily Source and develop new vendors, craft negotiation strategies and terms on price, payment, and lead time, and close deals with optimal terms Source and develop new products in Asian Beauty and home segments based on various factors such as customer demands, price, quality, availability, market trends, and team budgets Strategy and Analytics Develop, lead, optimize, and execute category sourcing and purchasing strategies Use data and multiple dimension metrics to improve KPIs for inventory level, inventory allocation, turnover, and cash flow Forecast price, analyze customer buying patterns and market trends to identify and optimize product assortment, pricing as well as changes of balance in buyer-supplier power Customer-driven, ability to reflect business from the customer side, and increase customer experience through everyday work Effectively communicate results of KPIs & root cause analysis with the management team and lead corrective action implementation in areas where performance is not meeting expectations Vendor relationship: Manage and maintain good vendor relationships and performance by deploying a standard set of metrics to improve vendors performance including fill rate, lead time, OSHA requirements, etc Ability to maintain perspective and confidence in face of difficult price negotiations, exceptionally tight deadlines, and expectations Partner with cross-functional teams on platform promotions, marketing allocation, mark-downs, payments terms, and other special requests Other Job tasks as assigned
