Job Description

The Nurse Manager is responsible for managing and supervising the delivery of safe, effective patient care, ensuring the quality of nursing practice, and maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Assigns duties and functions to staff based on their relative skills, training and abilities. Directly supervises Charge Nurses, staff RNs, LVNs, and CNAs/Mental Health Workers and is responsible for ensuring that all team members perform their respective duties in accordance with Hospital policy and standards of care. Specific duties include hiring, evaluating, coaching, counseling and disciplining of employees; directing patient care activities; implementing staffing plan for shift based on patient acuity, patient census, and available staff; implementing workplace changes; monitoring unit budgets; and participating in performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others.

Requirements

Two (2) years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1 year in a leadership role in a hospital environment
Active, current, and unencumbered Licensures as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
AHA Basic Life Support
Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
Understanding of patient classification and staffing requirements for the patient population
Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (can be obtained upon employment)
Experience in a leadership role indicated by successfully forming a team that is highly productive and demonstrates collaborative relationships with multi-disciplinary teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Power Point, Excel, Word or equivalent software products. Professional and ethical standards and practices.

Preferred

Psychiatric board certification
Community or Public Health experience.
Bilingual.
Specialized training and experience in the principals of integrating behavioral health assessment and treatment in the primary care setting.
LPS; Involuntary committed patient process
