The Controller is responsible for leading the Community Passageways finance team. This includes managing the organization s finances and financial policies, providing accessible financial reporting to the board, executive team and other staff, facilitating external audits, and supervising the staff and contractors supporting the team. The position is full-time and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Essential Responsibilities
Supervise the staff and contractors supporting the finance team.
Monitor, report out on, and make recommendations for strengthening the financial health of the organization.
Create, maintain, and assess adherence to financial policies.
Establish and administer financial controls.
Support the preparation and monitoring of the budget.
Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and 990s.
Oversee an annual external audit.
Ensure the timely preparation of regular financial reports necessary for granters, department heads, board members, and executive team members.
Manage cash flow within the organization (approx. $10m annual revenue), including accounts payable and receivable.
Ensure compliance with financial and associated payroll laws and regulations.
Be the in-house expert on all financial matters.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience managing organizational finances with at least $2m in annual revenue, with grant-funded nonprofit experience preferred.
Knowledge of GAAP.
Excellent management and supervisory skills.
Proficient in using and managing accounting software, with experience in MIP/Abila and Concur preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make financial data accessible to a wide range of stakeholders.
