Job Description

  • Perform normal day-to-day administration of the Linux environment.
  • Review daily backup reports to remedy failures and increase job success rates.
  • Collect, analyze, and document information about the current Linux environment.
  • Review customer policies and procedures to ensure that they are in line with the best practices of the supported Linux distributions.
  • Take ownership of trouble tickets and work them to resolution.
  • Assist with ongoing projects that utilize Linux as the Operating System platform.
  • Perform systems operation support, including storage and server system administration, general troubleshooting, and troubleshooting of complex engineering issues for hardware, software, and network components.
  • Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planning and execution in support of customer requirements.
  • Perform system, as well as file and directory, restores as requested by internal customers.
  • Perform daily duties related to system health monitoring and system integrity assurance including patching and upgrades.
  • Maintain configuration compliance to avoid risks of system outages or compromised data.


Requirements

  • Linux Administration experience in business environment (RedHat or Oracle Linux Certification a plus)
  • Deploys, troubleshoots, and maintains Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Enterprise Linux environment.
  • Practical experience in concepts such as data and information life cycle management, disaster recovery, and software performance tuning
  • Ability to solve IT issues with confidence logically.
  • Ability to take detailed notes, work independently and efficiently, and to communicate effectively as a member of a hybrid workforce.
  • Ability to convey highly technical information in business terms to upper management.
  • Experience with virtualization on Hyper-V, VMWare and/or Nutanix in complex, distributed or clustered environments.
  • ITSM knowledge and experience, with vendors, such as Cherwell, ServiceNow, etc.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge popular cloud infrastructure providers.
  • Develops test plans and deployment/user documentation for assigned features.
  • Integrates and Installs software libraries functioning in RHEL and OEL Linux environment.
  • Apply best practices in software engineering, delivering projects on time and with excellent quality.
  • Provide support to staff and end users to resolve issues.
  • Modify existing software to correct errors and/or improve performance.
  • Develop and execute test plans for file system upgrades and address vendor support any issues that arise during testing.
  • Security clearance a plus
  • Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on technical experience with hyperconverged infrastructure (Nutanix, Netapp, Dell/EMC)
  • Self-motivated on projects and tasks
  • Completion of a four-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to work colleagues with varying skill levels.
  • Good communication skills, oral and written.

Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a comparable technical/engineering field, or equivalent work experience required Minimum of 7 years of team-oriented development experience in a relational database environment required Minimum of 5 years of experience with programming languages (i.e. PERL, C, Python, Unix Shell Scripting) is required Experience with EAGLE Investment Systems (Eagle PACE, Eagle Star) is required Experience with ETL development is preferred (Informatica PowerCenter, IBM Data Stage, Oracle Data Integrator) Experience with database programming (i.e. Oracle PL/SQL or Microsoft T-SQL) is preferred Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle, Waterfall & Agile software development is desirable Experience with version control toolsets (i.e. Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS), Harvest, etc.) is preferred Experience in the Investment Management Industry and major data domains including Equity, Fixed-Income, Security Master, Positions & Lots, Trades, Corporate Actions, Prices/FX Rates, Cash, Benchmarks strongly preferred
