Job Description

Sabr Construction is on the hunt for a skilled and reliable Journeyman/Handyman based in Renton, Washington to join our maintenance department. You will be responsible for all upkeep and repair duties including maintaining green spaces, identifying the need for repairs, responding to clients’ maintenance requests, and servicing company equipment.

To be an effective Journeyman/Handyman, you will be skilled and hard-working, with outstanding problem-solving abilities. Skillful hands, good physical stamina, and strong technical knowledge are important parts of the successful candidates’ talents.

Scope

  • Level/Salary Range: Starting at $25/hour depending on experience
  • Position Type: Part-time and Full-time available

  • Location: Renton, Washington

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Install and repair flooring, tile, and carpet.

  • Remove and install sheet rock and interior and exterior paneling and walls.

  • Perform basic to advanced carpentry removal, installation, and repairs.

  • Perform basic tasks including painting and filling crevices, cleaning facilities, and managing maintenance repairs.

  • Perform repairs on company machinery, equipment, or appliances.

  • Detect and report the need for maintenance or repairs.

  • Install and repair plumbing, electrical, and safety systems.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of interior and exterior construction spaces.

  • Ability to operate tools, machines, and other equipment.

  • Be able to work in a team environment and help out as needed and requested.

  • Provide excellent customer service.

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification required.

  • A minimum of 2 years’ working experience in a similar role.

  • Solid experience with plumbing and electrical systems.

  • Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.

  • Extremely organized with good communication skills.

  • Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem-solving.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual (Conversational in Spanish and English)

 

This role is good for individuals who:

  • Have either never been previously employed or be returning to the workforce after a significant absence.

  • Individuals with regular or frequent periods of unemployment are eligible.

  • Not eligible for WIOA Title I Dislocated Worker programs but have been unemployed for 13 or more weeks.
