Overview and Job Summary

Professor Schonthal, an award-winning Professor of Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Kellogg School of Management seeks a highly organized and proactive Part-time Executive Administrator to support him in various roles and responsibilities. Professor Schonthal teaches courses on new venture creation, design thinking, healthcare innovation, and creativity. He serves as the Director of Entrepreneurship Programs at Kellogg and the Faculty Director of theZell Fellows Program, a selective venture accelerator program designed to help student entrepreneurs successfully launch or acquire new businesses. Additionally, David is an operating partner at 7wire Ventures and a renowned professional speaker and advisor to companies worldwide.

Professor Schonthal is looking for a dynamic individual to step into this vital position. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with an accomplished professional in the field of entrepreneurship and play a pivotal role in his success. This is a part-time, remote position but the candidate will need to be available during standard CDT business hours in CDT.

Responsibilities you will be expected to perform:

As the Part-time Executive Administrator, you will be responsible for a wide range of crucial tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations across Professor Schonthal’s various commitments. Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing Scheduling: Effectively managing Professor Schonthal’s complex schedule, ensuring all professional commitments are organized efficiently.
  • Strategic Prioritization: Collaborating with Professor Schonthal to prioritize tasks and projects strategically, ensuring his time is optimized.
  • Travel Coordination: Assisting in coordinating domestic and global travel arrangements, including flights, accommodations, and itineraries.
  • Expense Management: Handling professional expenses meticulously and maintaining accurate records.
  • Professional Engagements: Providing support in coordinating and scheduling speaking engagements and advisory sessions.
  • Collaboration with Teams: Liaising with Executive Administrator teams at Kellogg and 7wire Ventures to facilitate effective communication and coordination.
  • Media Opportunities: Working with Professor Schonthal’s Publicist to identify and leverage media opportunities.
  • Website and Online Presence: Ideally managing Professor Schonthal’s website and online presence to enhance his professional brand.
  • Overall Support: Acting as a pillar of support, ensuring Professor Schonthal’s overall well-being amid his busy schedule.
What we are looking for:
  • Experience: Previous experience in Executive Administration or coordination roles is highly desirable.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with various stakeholders.
  • Proactivity: A proactive and strategic approach to coordination, taking initiative to manage tasks and responsibilities.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: A bit of an entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to mold the role and take on increasing responsibilities over time.
  • Availability: Ability to work remotely and be available during Central Daylight Time (CDT) business hours.
  • Flexibility: Openness to working part-time and possibly accommodating additional responsibilities without compromising responsiveness.
Employment Details:
  • Workload: Estimated between 15-20 hours per week
  • Employment Structure: 1099, non-benefits eligible position
  • Compensation: Annualized compensation in the range of $30,000-$40,000 per year for 15-20 hours per week, with the possibility of morehours if desired. Payment will be made monthly
