Reporting to the Wickliffe Site HSES Manager, the Safety Specialist spends most of their day providing guidance on safety matters and addressing safety issues. This person will interact and work with the R/D, maintenance and engineering departments, and other internal clients to provide technical support and practical solutions related to safety and compliance, training, emergency management and recordkeeping.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership, counsel, and technical assistance to departments to achieve HSES goals
Develops and conducts safety training as needed
Attends and participates in safety meetings and inspections
Participates in site emergency planning, drills, and incident responses
Evaluates new chemicals for approval
Provides technical support to site management and R&Dregarding safety regulations and Lubrizol standards
Prepares updates to site safety policies and programs
Maintains record keeping as required by regulations and company policy
Serves as a point of contact for internal and external audits and inspections
Performs duties related to site RC14001 Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) and VPP
Performs and/or assists with plant wide and departmental safety audits
Assists with corrective actions from internal/external audits, inspections, and visits
Leads/participates in safety incident investigations and root cause analyses using techniques such as 5 Why and Cause Map
Works with personnel to improve safety on new and existing processes
