Major established and growing international manufacturer of complex equipment has a newly created position for an Embedded Software Architect. The role is located in upstate NY near Binghamton and Syracuse. They empower their employees to do great work in a company with a history of innovation and success. With this position there is available the ability to work 1 day a week remotely. H1B and TN Visa candidates will also be considered. There is promotion potential as well. About the position:
- We’re looking for a talented Embedded Software Architect to lead and develop, high-quality object-oriented software products for the company at their upstate NY headquarters near Binghamton and Syracuse. You will:
- Develop software architecture for microcontroller based products.
- Provide leadership in design, and development of object oriented real-time embedded applications.
- Create designs, development rules, and test strategies for complex embedded software applications.
- Lead technical software programs using both internal and external resources.
- Ensure all projects have meaningful technical milestones and perform periodic reviews to ensure projects are on target.
- Identify and implement programs to continually develop software staff and key resources.
- Act as technical project director for major programs, providing technical guidance on projects.
- Act as the principal technical software resource for leading discussions with senior developers.
- Partner with HR and training teams to ensure that associates receive the appropriate technical development mentoring and training opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years in an architect role. Product background needs to be complex such as capital production equipment or vehicle related.
- In-depth technical skill in embedded code development (C, C++).
- Experience with requirement and development tracking tools (Jira, Bitbucket, GIT, etc.).
- Good knowledge in Real Time Control and Object-Oriented Software Design Methodologies.
- Experience adding value through leadership by building high performing team and achieving successful outcomes on complicated programs/projects.
- Experience with full product development cycle, in a multi-functional team environment.
- Demonstrated application of cost control, schedule, and risk and opportunity management.
- Strong presentation, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to travel 10%-15% which could include to Europe and Japan.
