Production Manager - Automotive Tier I Manufacturing Plant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Production Manager to join our team at an Automotive Tier I manufacturing plant in Austin, Texas. As a Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the manufacturing operations to ensure efficient production processes, adherence to quality standards, and timely delivery of automotive components. The ideal candidate has a strong background in automotive manufacturing, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of achieving production targets while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and supervise a team of production supervisors and line workers to achieve production targets and deliver high-quality automotive components.
2. Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies to optimize manufacturing efficiency and meet customer demands.
3. Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve productivity, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
4. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety throughout the manufacturing plant.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and logistics, to ensure smooth coordination and execution of production activities.
6. Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure adherence to customer specifications and industry standards.
7. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and production metrics to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective measures as needed.
8. Identify training needs and provide coaching and guidance to employees to enhance their skills and performance.
9. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain for raw materials and components.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in automotive manufacturing to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, industrial management, or a related field OR Relevant experience w/o Degree
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role within the automotive manufacturing industry, preferably in a Tier I supplier environment.
3. Strong knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, injection molding.
4. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
5. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
6. Solid understanding of quality management systems, such as ISO 14001/TS 16949 or IATF 16949.
7. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
8. Proficient in using manufacturing software, ERP systems, and production planning tools.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
11. JIT/JIS experience a plus
