Our client, a major and established international company, has an opening for a Quality Engineer at one of their large plants near Savannah, GA. This role will lead and complete quality engineering assignments and perform statistical data analysis to provide information to meet quality standards. This site involves high-pressure aluminum die casting as well as machining and assembly that is also highly complex and high volume. Additionally, the company offers attractive relocation assistance and major benefits. Very large capital investments were made in the plant last year and this year.
Job Responsibilities
1. Performs moderately complex quality assurance assignments and projects; participates in the development of new models; performs Quality Management System documentation activities.
2. Coordinated moderately complex product/process capability studies
3. Leads problem-solving teams; identifies root causes, implements corrective actions and verifies effectiveness
4. Develops product/process procedures, including performance metrics
5. Perform statistical analysis used in problem-solving, quality improvement projects & Six Sigma teams
6. Performs layouts and reads and understands geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T).
7. Investigates customer complaints, develops corrective action plans and verifies effectiveness
8. Lead Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) teams and Control Plans development.
9. Serves as a liaison between suppliers and companies in quality activities
10. Performs other duties as assigned
Job Skills Requirements
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse groups of internal and external customers.
Ability to prepare and present technical information
Thorough technical knowledge and background in quality and manufacturing processes, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), layout and gaging, machining methods and assembly processes as well as statistical process control (SPC) and statistical techniques
Thorough knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools, including control plans and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and project management skills
Well-developed time management, prioritization, organizational and planning skills
Demonstrated ability to work individually or in a team environment and the flexibility to ensure team coverage of all quality-related activities.
Fluent in English and the primary language used in the area of responsibility and/or location
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field
Experience requirements
Certifications are preferred.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Domestic and/or international travel as required up to 25%
