Our client is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a globally integrated business enterprise that develops and operates businesses in virtually every industry. Employer provides asset management & optimization services to owners of generation and energy storage in North America. It also provides wholesale energy to retail power & gas suppliers. Our proprietary traders cover competitive power markets, including the New England, Midwest and Western markets. The employer has been optimizing our customers generation assets for over 15 years.
Role Summary:
Our client is looking for a Generation Dispatcher to assist in managing real-time operations of the Company's generation assets and executing real-time dispatching strategies to optimize real-time energy positions.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate unit availability, outage schedules, unit startup and shutdown times, and communicate all necessary information to plant personnel, ISOs, and day-ahead traders
Take or direct timely and appropriate real-time actions in accordance with ISO procedures
Actively communicate with the Asset Management group to maximize value and minimize risk for energy management clients
Maintain a thorough understanding of ISO tariffs, manuals, policies and procedures governing generator dispatch
Comply with applicable NERC reliability standards
Monitor and analyze available market information to identify dispatching opportunities
Analyze and evaluate energy transactions to ensure that all relevant aspects, including energy price, transmission, counterparty, and contractual terms are compliant with the Company's Risk Management Policy
Complete and maintain the necessary PJM Generation Operator certification and continuing education requirementsQualifications:
Bachelors degree in economics, business, finance, or other relevant degree/experience
At least 1 year of real-time generation and dispatching experience
Potential to hire a candidate with limited experience as an entry-level dispatcher
Competence in mathematics and technical concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to take appropriate action within time constraints
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team
Generation Dispatchers must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule as part of a 24 hour, 7 days a week operation
