We are looking for a HES Specialist to join our client. Candidates should be based in the north of England.

Role:

  • Supporting the UK Pipeline and Terminals business in establishing and maintaining a safe operation and place of work.
  • Provide practical advice and documented systems as necessary to meet the requirements of local legislation and Company policies. Conduct risk assessments and assist in HAZOP studies as required.
  • Ensure staff and contractors understand the companies Safe Work Practices and support their implementation and effectiveness by auditing compliance.
  • Assist the broader business in all Health and Safety matters ensuring we procure services from organisations with appropriate standards and performance.
  • Participate in industry / regulator workgroups as required to ensure the Companys interests are represented and to contribute to the development of appropriate standards and policies.
  • Support the business in compliance with legislation, specifically the Control of Major Accident Hazard Regulations. Support the development and assist in the submission of the required safety reports and documentation in a timely manner. Liaise with other consultants and contractors as may be necessary to complete the work.
  • Support the business by attending regulatory visits and meetings and provide advice and documentation as necessary. Work with facilities management to follow up on and prepare responses to regulatory queries.
  • Provide Occupational Hygiene advice and support to the business. Support the business in implementing solutions from the routine monitoring.
  • Review all incidents and near misses to determine cause and promote effective solutions. Assist in major incident investigations as necessary using appropriate detailed methodology e.g. TapRoot.

Competencies/Skills:

  • NEBOSH Diploma Occupational Health & Safety Management - preferred
  • NEBOSH Certificate Occupational Health & Safety Management - required
  • NEBOSH Diploma Environmental Management - preferred
  • NEBOSH Certificate Environmental Management - required
  • Diploma/Certificate of Professional Competence Occupational Hygiene
  • Member Institute of Occupational Health
  • Detailed operational knowledge of the engineering, processes, and systems of the fuel distribution sector. Understanding of applicable industry codes of practice and legislation specifically COMAH.
  • Experience of working and communicating effectively within the organization and with external service providers and regulators.
  • Need to be capable of working independently, have good IT skills and managing workload effectively.
