A leading manufacturer and supplier of Manpack & Fly Away satellite terminals designed and built for the expeditionary user community to guarantee communications connectivity in the most austere environments. Tampa Microwave primarily serves Federal and Department of Defense markets.

We are seeking to fill a Senior SATCOM Systems Engineer position located in our Clearwater, FL location. This position reports to the Systems Engineer Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Provides high-level subject matter expertise for land-based or mobile satellite communications (SATCOM) terminals and associated sub-systems: Transceivers, Modems, Antennas, positioners/gimbals, etc.
  
• Perform high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, training, and/or implementation on product family of SATCOM terminals.
  
• Develop, document, execute and integrate engineering processes, as required, to support the design and development of each SATCOM system.
  
• Lead technical investigations for engineering-related requests into tactical communication products by investigating product issues and by providing written recommendations and outcomes.
  
• Design, plan, and document upgrades, improvements, and engineering change notices (ECNs) for existing SATCOM terminals.
  
• Support in-house programs to define, capture, and maintain the system level technical, schedule, and cost risks throughout. Develop risk mitigation action and assess impacts of risks and proposed changes.
  
• Serve as lead systems engineer in the development of system-level hardware and software function requirements for new or improved ground-based SATCOM products: Transceivers, modems, antennas and systems.
  
• Able to perform link budget analysis for GEO / MEO / LEO satellite ground-based SATCOM terminals operating at X-, Ku- and Ka-band. Able to review ARSTRAT WGS RF test and measurement data pertaining to MIL-STD-164C including antenna pattern analysis.
  
• Serve as point-of-contact with satellite providers and government entities that issue certifications that permit our SATCOM terminals to operate on satellite constellations, such as: Inmarsat, Intelsat, SES and DoD s WGS constellations. Evaluate terminal performance certification reports through all phases of the certification process. Generate an engineering-based assessment for each terminal performance certification report & determine compliance or non-compliance with the required performance criteria.
  
• Develop acceptance test specifications and verification matrices to conduct tests to determine product s compliance to Mil STD and industry standards of performance. Analyze test data to identify non-compliances and lead the program s team in identifying corrective action.
  
• Enforce and contribute to the company s new product design lifecycle process, from creation of hardware / software requirements, through production transition, to aftermarket support. Accomplish this task through development of system requirements for TM products, participation in System Requirements Review (SRR), design reviews and Production Readiness Review (PRR). Ensure that requirements traceability exists in all performance specifications issued to the Company s suppliers.
  
• Coordinate evolving technical requirements with Business Development personnel to ensure TM develops the technology required to meet future requirements in our marketplace. Create system requirements and architectures that support the company s business development strategy.
  
• Participate in the Company s make / buy decisions for key technology.
  
• Participate in proposal preparation. Identify and incorporate themes that are important to customers into our written submissions. Join in pricing reviews to identify risks to cost, schedule and technical performance.
  
• Communicate with and cultivate productive relationships with current and potential customers.
  
• Moderate travel required.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  

Qualifications:

• Ability toobtain and maintain USSecret Level Security Clearance upon hire as required
  
• BSc degree from an accredited college or university in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, etc, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a related technical discipline, like: advanced courses in technical management, engineering or science subjects.
  
• 7 to 10 years relevant experience working with commercial and/or military satellite or wireless communication in system design, analysis, development and integration of fixed or mobile SATCOM terminals.
  
• Work experience in radio frequency measurements with various tests equipment including Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Power Meter, Oscilloscope etc.
  
• Working knowledge on the operation of iDirect 900 series, ViaSat CBM-400 and Comtech modems within satellite networks (TDMA, FDMA).
  
• Able to perform link budget analysis for GEO / MEO / LEO satellite ground-based SATCOM terminals operating at X-, Ku- and Ka-band.
  
• Exhibit the following personal characteristics: highly motivated self-starter, superior communication skills, sound judgment, effective listening techniques and incisive deductive reasoning ability.
  
• Experience using and operating RF & electronic test equipment to test, evaluate and troubleshoot RF/electronic circuits and subassemblies, like: Signal generators, oscilloscopes, signal & vector network analyzers, DC power supplies, etc.
  
• Fluent in the English language- written and oral
