A CCTV technician handles installing and maintaining CCTV systems at businesses and other locations. CCTV technicians spend most of their time installing and maintaining video surveillance systems. The primary duty of the CCTV technician is to install and set up the systems that customers desire.
You also will have to be able to install, configure, and maintain CCTV systems. CCTV surveillance systems must be installed by qualified staff that have expertise in the field.
Technical skills are important to the CCTV technician, since it allows you to install, repair, and maintain the security systems. A CCTV technician must not only possess the technical knowledge of installing security systems, they must have an approachable personality and the ability to translate technical terms in an understandable language. By becoming a specialist in the installation and maintenance of surveillance systems, technicians can position themselves for a higher level of demand in the years ahead
Repairing and maintaining CCTV camera units including, but not limited to, communicating with vendors to upgrade computer programs, troubleshooting existing hardware, and performing routine camera maintenance. Ensure the surveillance control room is managed and the technology equipment in it and other locations is maintained appropriately; procure; provide; and procure services, repairs, and maintenance. Ensure maintenance and repairs of both technical and physical security equipment within 90 days of the hire date.
