Head of Development

WRK digital are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading digital agency in Leeds to shortlist for a Head of Development to lead their fast-growing development team.

The Role
As an Senior Manager in the business it's your responsibility to oversee the activities of the studio development team and provide leadership and regular reporting to the board. You will lead the technical development of the organisation and set the technical agenda.

You'll be leading a team of Front End (4) and Back End Developers (3) working on modern software projects within the blossoming UK Tech sector developing bespoke web platforms, SaaS products and other bespoke solutions. The team are developing progressive web apps, native apps and websites.

Technology and Tools the team use right now include: JavaScript, Vue.JS Node.JS, GraphQL, GIT with long term projects and internal products built using PHP (CraftCMS & Laravel) and mobile applications using Flutter.

Key Responsibilities:

- You will report to the board on project delivery performance and report on capacity and resource planning.
- Leadership
* You provide mentoring and support
* You perform formal 1 to 1s with Senior team member to ensure there are working towards their PDP goals.
* You manage resources, support recruitment and team utilisation.
- You will oversee all day to day activities for the development team including :
* You support project management, architecture and sales in the specification and delivery of development projects.
* You support R&D with the productisation of our service.
* You support the QA process and ensure best quality at all times.
* You will help maintain ISO27001 and ISO9001 delivery.
* You are responsible for reviewing designs for new projects and advise on potential changes that are in line with technical and or scope restrictions.
* You perform performance reports with recommendations for technical changes.
- Project Management
* You lead and support project management, are involved in project kick off meetings, highlighting any blockers and recommend best practice solutions for any queries.
- Team Lead
* You are responsible for developing Personal Development Plans for each direct team member and working with them to ensure there are working towards their goals.
- Future Proofing
* You are responsible for identifying process gaps and recommend new processes that will improve efficiency and quality.
* You are involved in R&D discussions to ensure the team is actively progressing with new technologies

The Team
