Job Description

Position Summary:


The Press Mechanic is responsible for maintaining all facets of digital and conventional printing equipment in the Print departments. As a well-rounded technician, this role provides support to other departments in the facility when necessary. Knowledge of mechanical processes, power transmission and electronic control diagnostics is essential. Experience with general facility repairs and maintenance is also required.


Essential Functions:
  • Performs routine maintenance to printing and supporting equipment e.g., filters, oil changes, cleanings
  • Performs repairs with a high degree of workmanship and a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains a teamwork approach when working within a group.
  • Communication with other print mechanics to achieve goals as a team.
  • Awareness of proper running conditions and alertness to improper operation.
  • Experience working with drive shafts, electric motors, belt drives, gear boxes etc.
  • Knowledge of common electrical testing equipment and procedures e.g., volt meters, current meters, continuity testers.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring devices e.g., vernier calipers/scales, micrometers, and dial test indicators.
  • Ability to communicate with equipment operators to develop an understanding of issues and provide solutions.
  • Keeps records of repair parts and materials consumed.
  • Able to work overhead and low to the ground as well as stand for long periods.
  • Performs tasks in a safe and responsible manor in compliance with company training and policies. Considers the safety of others
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Promote company values and culture.


Requirements

Education, Training, and Experience:


High school diploma or equivalent.
Trade or Technical schooling of related discipline, as well as field training and manufacturer training beneficial.
Two or more years of experience working in a maintenance mechanic role.
One or more years experience in a print industry preferred but not required.
Experience in quality control, lean manufacturing, safety, a plus.


Essential:

Solid mechanical aptitude.
Electrical troubleshooting capabilities
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, service procedures, electrical diagrams and work orders to perform required maintenance.
Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance and regulations.
