Job Description

Our client is hiring an Equipment Development/Robotics Engineer to immediately contribute to the installation and qualification of a new solar module manufacturing facility

You will work within a cross-functional team to develop robust automated manufacturing processes

The ideal candidate must have a passion for thinking out of the box and thrive working in a fast-paced startup environment. With creative problem solving, organized thinking, and strong hands-on machine building skills, you can help us deliver the solar roof of the future.

What will you do?

  • Create, design, and supervise the fabrication of custom automation solutions for manufacturing process needs
  • Deploy robotic solutions to automate manual tasks
  • Interface those solutions with MES and SCADA systems
  • Design and create custom fixtures for specific automation applications
  • Introduce new manufacturing equipment to the factory floor and assist the Engineering team in qualifying and maintaining those systems
  • Work with outside vendors to maintain and upgrade existing manufacturing automation systems as production needs evolve
  • Integrate off-the-shelf equipment (such as liquid dispensers, label applicators, and printers) into the manufacturing line
  • Write acceptance testing protocols, qualification procedures, and other documentation
  • Cross-collaborate with members of the R&D, Reliability, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams
  • Write and update all documentation pertaining to automated electrical systems (reports, work instructions, training manuals, etc.)
  • Train operators, engineers, and maintenance technicians to use HMIs for standard tasks (data entry, material tracking, etc)
  • Collaborate with overseas equipment support engineers

Requirements

What do we require from you?

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or similar, and 2+ years of work experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with CAD programs (SolidWorks)
  • Hands-on experience with robotic arms and EOAT components
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC control logic
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with vacuum suction pick-and-place systems
  • Experience with motion controllers and vision inspection systems
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams to drive innovation, product and process development and a demonstrated ability to articulate design trade-offs based on customer requirements
  • Proven record of handling multiple priorities, organizing workload, and meeting commitments
  • Willing and able to travel within the US and globally, up to 25% of your work time
  • Low-ego team player who thrives on a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external functional teams verbally, in writing, and via presentations
  • Impeccable attention to detail, a process-oriented mindset, and excellent time management skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and efficient
