Requirements

• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
  
• 4+ years of experience as a DevOps engineer working with data and analytics products/tools
  
• Proficient with git and git workflows
  
• Good knowledge of Groovy/Bash or Python
  
• Working knowledge of NoSQL & relational databases (DBA)
  
• Experienced with networking & security (VPN, UFW, Nginx)
  
• Deep understanding of virtualisation & containerisation (VMware, Docker or K8s)
  
• Experienced in cloud based environments (AWS, Azure or GCE)
  
• Well experienced with infrastructure management tools (Terraform, Jenkins or Nomad)
  
• Comfortable working in Unix based operating systems (Linux or MacOs)
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to express complex ideas succinctly
  
• Strong DevOps skills, highly organised and able to rapidly adapt to changing situations and inputs
  
• Analytical skills and experience with tools and languages for doing data analysis
  
• Ability to work effectively remotely with people from a wide range of cultural and professional backgrounds
  
• Experience in a startup environment as a DevOps engineer advantageous
  
• An interest and understanding of Data Analytics and Data Integration
  
• Experience or training in public health, health analytics and/or international development advantageous
  
• Experience working on software for governments or international aid organizations advantageous
  
• AWS or GCP Certified DevOps Engineer certifications is a plus
  

Responsibilities

• Build and set up new development tools and infrastructure
  
• Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  
• Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience
  
• Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
  
• Work on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
  
• Identify technical problems and developing software updates and fixes
  
• Deploy updates and fixes
  
• Provide a level of technical support
  
• Active system monitoring and reporting on system health
  
• Perform root cause analysis for production errors
  
• Investigate and resolve technical issues
