Our business is growing. With this growth comes the need to rethink our existing finance function and enter an exciting phase of change with regards to how we operate. We are expanding the credit & risk department.
The primary focus of the Credit Controller will be to maximise the in-house recovery. of debts owed to the business. We have escalation and recovery support functions set up in the form of solicitors, insurances and 3rd party debt collectors, however it is our aim to limit the use of such functions to only the highest value and longstanding credit debts.
Due to the nature of weekly invoicing this will be a fast-paced debt collection environment requiring a proactive approach to daily and weekly debt collections. As such you will need to be both resilient and tenacious in your approach with the emotional intelligence required to influence decision makers to resolve account arrears quickly with minimal disruption to our business and theirs.
You will hold responsibility for carrying out credit checks on all new customer applications. This is a critical role within the business and acts as the first line of risk mitigation in relation to new client accounts. It is crucial that this process happens quickly and accurately to prevent any delay in the set-up of a new client accounts, whilst ensuring that we are safeguarding against any potential credit risks as we continue to grow our customer portfolio.
The Credit Controller will also manage other day to day finance administration tasks as detailed below:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Credit checking new applications with Credit Safe and insurance facility
- Accurately analyse risk of new and existing customers
- Contact with credit agencies
- Monitor credit limits for the customer base with use of reporting tools
- Customer ledger risk analysis and reporting
- Limit our credit exposure by effectively monitoring percentage to credit limit for all customers daily
- Chasing debt reactively and proactively
- Maximise internal debt collection
- Take full ownership of the internal debt cycle
- Liaise with solicitors, debt collectors and insurance company
- Maintain performance against KPIs
- Amend, create and follow department processes to ensure highest efficiency
- Take card payments over the phone
- Take bank details over the phone and set up direct debit mandates
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Clear desire and will to proactively contact customers to recover outstanding debts with a minimum of 2 years previous credit control experience.
- Experience in searching and analysing credit reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels
- Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to quickly build rapport at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Competent in Microsoft Office products and CRM systems
- Calm and confident manner to handle potentially uncomfortable conversations
- Assertive, proactive and determined nature.
