Software Engineer - Backend

We at the User Growth team, have the mission to grow the user base and, increase user engagement. We try to achieve this with a focus on product lead growth based on improving existing features and/or developing new features.

As a backend engineer in the User Growth team, you will work closely with a lean yet fast-moving team and take responsibility for building new applications as well as improving existing ones. You ll be building systems from scratch and would be expected to take end-to-end ownership.

Tasks

• Responsible for building backend for products developed under the User Growth team while providing know-how in the full software development lifecycle.
• Building a reliable system while having the ability to move fast.
• Participating in problem-solving sessions with the team & providing solutions.
• Developing a framework to allow rapid prototyping.

Requirements

• Software development experience of 2+ years with Java or Scala, Play Framework.
• Experience working with microservices, architecture, and patterns.
• Experience working with non-relational databases.
• Experience working with the backend for mobile apps, especially consumer apps.
• Great prototyping skills.
• Good understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Good English skills, oral and written.
• Enthusiastic and passionate about working on the product and contributing to delivering the best technical solutions to users problems.
• Willing to disagree, discuss and commit. Willing to adapt opinions in the light of new information or facts.
• Not afraid to experiment, fail and repeat.
• Creative and curious by default, asking a lot of questions with a keen willingness to learn.
• Believer in achieving ambitious outcomes.
• Team player that is respectful, while being assertive.
