Job Description

Application Support Engineer

Job Purpose

Our client, located in London is looking for an Application Support Analyst to join the Applications team within the Technology Services department. The successful candidate will join a growing and dynamic team working in a challenging and rewarding environment with exposure to a variety of be-spoke and off the shelf applications (both hosted and SaaS).

They will work closely with business stakeholders, 3rd party suppliers, and Technology colleagues across all disciplines (Infrastructure, Applications and Service Desk) to help support a range of business-critical applications.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and problems solving skills. It is essential that they can learn new systems and procedures quickly and must have a strong attention to detail.

The Role

The role holder will be working closely with customers throughout the organisation, rapidly becoming a subject matter expert in a range of business-critical applications. The role entails acting as a critical point of contact for resolving queries, support requests, system administration, testing and supporting the Business Applications Manager with application updates and new releases.

The successful Application Support Analyst may have come from a Technology support background or have gained experience while undertaking Technology administration within a business team, but they will need the ability to support multiple business applications. You must be organised and able to manage your own time accordingly.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent all-round communication skills
  • Good customer service skills and a good understanding of customer focus and updates
  • ITIL experience or training
  • Strong investigation skills, and an ability to learn quickly
  • Good time manager and able to multi-task
  • Excellent delivery focus and commitment
  • Team player, able to learn/adapt quickly and take responsibility
  • Microsoft Office

Desirable Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge, ideally with web, mobile applications, API s and databases
  • Some infrastructure knowledge such as WAN, Servers and Cloud platforms
