Position Title: Technician
Our client, a local and growing ophthalmology practice, is seeking a Technician to join their team in Hershey, PA. They will be responsible for patient screening, testing, instrument maintenance, medication refills, minor surgery assistance, set-up for in-office procedures, and opening and closing. THEY WILL GET TRAINING!
- Provide various screening and tests, including, but not limited to: Patient chief complaint and history, past, family and social history, medications, allergies, visual acuity, confrontational visual fields, stereoacuity, photoscreening, schirmers, dilation, alignment, auto refraction, retinoscopy, refracting, near point of convergence, near point of accommodation, extraocularmotility, color vision, eye pressure, visual field,
- Removal of sutures
- Assist Doctor with in-office procedures
- Ensure that the exam rooms are stocked with all necessary supplies and cleaned after each patient
- Assist the Orthoptist in research studies
- Work with patients to teach them about their contact lens care
- Review work email, to-do lists, and triages in a timely manner
- Complete all necessary training in a timely manner.
- Ensure equipment is properly and accurately calibrated
- Consenting patients for surgery and/or procedures
- Provide any necessary patient education
- Assist with patient billing
- Adhere to all Clinic policies on safety and security.
- Must exercise the utmost diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients.
- Must practice confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance to Clinic policies and HIPAA requirements.
- Complete all required OSHA training via webinar, understanding the procedures that need to be followed.
- Attend scheduled department staff and clinical meetings.
- Must be cross-trained and able to fill in for other position in the practice, in the event of a call-off or vacation. If this would occur, the specific job description for that position will be followed.
