Job Description

WHY WE NEED YOU

The payroll position requires the preparation, processing, and maintenance of payroll responsibilities. The position will process payroll activities for 100+ employees across 3 locations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manage Biweekly payroll and submit by the established deadline.
  • Review, analyze, and reconcile payroll and payroll related data according to established timelines, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll processing including hours calculations, manual check calculations, process adjustments, reimbursement, refunds, and void checks.
  • Determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employees' federal and state income taxes and social security taxes, and employer's social security and unemployment payments.
  • Verify payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, sick time, and prepare accruals.
  • Balance payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Work with HR on Employee HR Data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements by studying existing and new legislations for all applicable state and federal wage and hour and related laws, enforcing adherence to such laws and requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating payroll policies and procedures.
  • Maintain strict employee document privacy and protect payroll operations by ensuring the confidentiality of all such employee information.
  • Manage and provide support for tax filings, quarterly and year-end processes, such as 940/941 reports, gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.
  • Prepare payroll information for audits and timely and accurate payroll reports for senior management.
  • Stay current on payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR, benefits and other related programs and to ensure effective accounting support.
  • Collaborate with HR team and verify updated payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles and department/division transfers.
  • Contact HR team for any missing information such as employee change of status document and time sheet corrections
  • Verify all overtime hours with appropriate management personnel and wage garnishments with HR team prior to issuing payroll checks.
  • Verify direct deposit banking information from employees.
  • Verify processed termination requests and final pay to "terminated status" employees
  • Provide payroll information to employees and answer all such questions and written requests.

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Significant depth of payroll processing experience, 5+ years
  • Expertise with payroll systems, UKG experience
  • Extremely knowledgeable of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, meal & rest period laws and all regulatory/compliance laws pertaining to payroll processing.
  • Experience working with accounting reconciliations and analysis
