Job Description:

Performs routine interventional procedures with adherence to protocol and standard operating procedures, and provides assistance as necessary for more complex interventional procedures
Performs accurate and timely recordkeeping consistent with the maintenance of all quality standards and client expectations.
Assists in the preparation of study protocols and other study documentation and reports.
Ensures catheterization laboratory animal procedures are carried out in compliance with regulatory agencies policies and institutional guidelines.
Provides operator feedback to clients on the performance of test materials.
Assists in promoting programs to potential clients.
Assists in training surgical Associates with respect to interventional matters and techniques.
Develops animal disease models where appropriate to test the efficacy of new therapies.
Assists with the development and implementation of plans and operations to streamline procedures, maximize efficiencies and reduce costs within the catheterization lab.
Reviews protocols and provides guidance on suitable animal models and appropriate technical procedures.
Trains and provides scientific supervision of catheterization lab Associates to ensure high quality standards.

Qualifications and Skills

Three years' experience performing surgical and routine interventional procedures in a preclinical testing catheterization laboratory preferred.
Bachelor degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline required. Masters degree in a life science discipline preferred.


Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fluoroscopy and faxitron x-ray imaging, and is required to wear protective lead clothing during all exposure. The employee regularly works with sharp objects, and is regularly exposed to, and must handle and come in contact with, a variety of livestock, domestic and laboratory animals. The employee may, on rare occasion, be exposed to zoonotic diseases.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; stand for extended periods wearing radiation protection apparel; bend and reach with hands and arms; lift, move and/or hold up to 50 pounds; use hands to handle, finger or feel objects, tools or controls; and type/work at a computer.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, exceptional spatial acuity and visual-kinesthetic coordination.
