Associate Medical Director of Molecular Diagnostics



The Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center seeks an Associate Director of the Molecular Diagnostics laboratory. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. and should be ABP board-certified in molecular genetic pathology, ABMGG board-certified or board-eligible in molecular genetics or in laboratory genetics and genomics (LGG). Experience with next generation sequencing (NGS)-based testing of constitutional and oncology specimens is preferred.



Responsibilities will include coverage in multiple laboratory sections with interpretation and sign-out of NGS for disease specific multi-gene panels and whole exome sequencing, and a variety of molecular assays for both adult and pediatric patients. Additional responsibilities will include teaching and mentoring LGG and Molecular Genetic Pathology fellows, pathology residents, and medical students, and participation in clinical and/or translational research. The successful candidate will work closely with other section faculty in the administration, oversight, management, and research and development activities of the laboratories. Academic rank and salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
