Job Description

Practice Development Manager - for prominent law firm.
**This is a hybrid position and can be located in Washington, DC or Houston, TX.

This position works with lawyers and professionals in the Environmental (Litigation and Regulatory) and Communications practice groups.

This role spans responsibilities from hands-on project management to creative business development strategy, including the following: Strategic Planning- Help design and execute business development plans and budgets for practice groups and individual attorneys. Work closely with practice group leaders and partners to adjust plans proactively as market conditions change. Business Development- Identify strategies for new business opportunities by staying informed about the present and emerging needs of clients and the issues and trends in their industries. Manage a robust volume of RFP responses with responsibilities including writing and organizing information in a clear and professional manner, positioning the firms capabilities persuasively, and maintaining consistency in the format of proposals and other deliverables. Produce new business presentations and pitches, often collaborating with other PDMs, administrative departments, and lawyers on cross-practice proposals. Provide structure and support to cross-selling initiatives, including through internal communications that promote the practices successes and areas of expertise. Project Management- Maintain each practices pipeline of opportunities in the firms CRM. Prepare and track results of pitches, proposals, and referrals. Provide timely ideas and other support to ensure consistent progress towards achieving business development goals. Research and Knowledge Management-Manage research efforts concerning new business targets, industries, and competitors. Maintain the quality and accuracy of each practices collateral materials, experience lists, and related marketing resources. Manage and maintain database of contacts, relationships, and referrals. Marketing Communications and Events - Create and implement multi-faceted strategies to raise the profiles of the practices and attorneys, such as by securing speaking, sponsorship, and writing opportunities. Manage content marketing strategy, including distribution of client communications and creation of website, blog posts, podcasts, and other digital media content. Plan and direct the groups involvement in third-party conferences and firm-sponsored events.

Position Requirements: Ideal candidate is client service-oriented with the drive to support an entrepreneurial group of lawyers. The successful candidate is a self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. This position requires a marketing professional who is proactive and detail oriented. Bachelors degree required. MBA or JD a plus. Must have at least 5 to 7 years of marketing/business development experience in a law firm or professional services firm. Outstanding writing, project management, research, organizational and inter-personal communications skills are required. Prior experience managing RFPs issued by states and territories, and basic knowledge of environmental regulations and policy, is a plus.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
