HVAC Design Engineer

SMV Recruiting is actively looking for a HVAC/Plumbing Design Engineer to be based out of either Syracuse, Buffalo or Utica. Our client, who is a family owned, progressive and forward-thinking company is looking to add fun, driven, yet professional staff to their team. Our client is looking for degreed designer/engineer with a minimum of two (2) years of experience at a consulting firm designing HVAC/Plumbing systems for schools/hospitals/commercial buildings, coupled with a strong background in AutoCAD or Revit. You would be working under senior leadership and part of a very collaborative design team. Our client offers full benefits, flexible hours, and the opportunity to be partially remote!

Responsibilities

• Draft HVAC/Plumbing construction designs that include details plans and sections


• Assist with HVAC/Plumbing load and energy calculations


• Help design the HVAC/Plumbing systems and select equipment


• Create construction documents in AutoCAD and/or Revit


• Coordinate with engineers and architects in the design process


• Research and evaluate buildings and regulations


• Take part in various discussions on design concept and process, sustainable design, and strategies


• Communicate with other team members on a regular basis


• Understand both constant and variable flow air and water systems, and properly apply equipment to work with these systems


• Designs plumbing, piping and ductwork including but not limited to: layouts, sizing, etc.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in engineering, architect, drafting, etc. (or a minimum of an associate degree and four years of experience)


• 2+ years experience working for a consulting engineering firm


• Must have previous experience designing building systems (not installing them)


• Experience designing systems for hospitals, schools, office buildings, manufacturing and/or large-scale commercial/mixed use


• Proficient using AutoCAD and Revit


• Strong Microsoft Office skills
