Technical Lead/Application Developer , AVP

Position Description:


State Street Global Markets Operations technology is currently undergoing a multiyear transformation initiative to digitize the operational workflows to address risk reduction and gain. As part of this initiative, State Street Global Markets Technology is seeking talented IT professionals to join an already established team and provide technical leadership and be a (link removed)ndidateswill work closely with business users, developers and testers to build applications to support operational technology for FX, Securities Finance, Currency Management and Portfolio Solutions business lines (link removed) Candidates with a track record for delivery and relevant financial services industry experience will find opportunities to leverage their real life experience in a highly collaborative global organization.

The Technical Lead/Application Developer is a hands-on software development and maintenance position, responsible for implementing the architectural vision for this new strategic initiative. The developer will work with already established team that identify and build core re-useable functionality, tools, and services. The development team will leverage existing Corporate and GM IT assets and will use agile software development methodologies, Open Source, and a combination of vendor and custom software to deliver capabilities to end users and development teams in a rapid and incremental fashion.

The successful candidate willwork in collaboration with multiple applications, vendor and teams spread across globe.


Roles and Responsibilities:

Hands-on development and implementation of all aspects of SSGM Operational technology
Adhere to an agile model of development and support. Deliver high quality technical solutions for loosely defined, ever evolving requirements
Liaise with business analysts, developers, testers, vendors and other application owners across the globe to implement technical solutions
Promote Test First Development Approach
Perform periodic code reviews with focus on functional integrity as well as extensibility and scalability
Ensure quality of application and dev processes by seeking improvement areas and implementing them
Estimate and deliver complex technical changes in a timely manner
Operate in a self-sufficient manner, but also identify the right time to raise queries or concerns


Job Requirements:

Bachelors degree or higher in computer science or related field
7-10+ years experience in designing and implementing large scale, complex transactional applications
Experience in Open Source Technologies, Java, Oracle, MQ, Kafka and Cloud Technologies is required
Strong Relational databases (Oracle, Sybase) knowledge
Knowledge of Development and build tools (GIT / Subversion / TeamCity / Nexus / Maven etc)
Experience with continuous integration (TeamCity/Jenkins) and version control (Perforce/Git) toolkits and Test First Development Approach
Complete knowledge of the software development lifecycle for iterative, agile, and traditional approaches
Experience in using and contributing to Open Source software is strongly preferred
Experience in integrating Vendor Platforms with in-house solutions is preferred
Experience in low latency trading applications is a plus
Strong Linux / Bash scripting knowledge is a plus
Familiarity with BigData technologies (Hadoop EcoSystem, Spark) and Machine Learning toolkits is desired
Financial Services industry knowledge in Front, Middle or Back Office solutionsis an added plus
Strong analytical skills. The ability to receive and analyze requirements, and propose a suitable solution that adheres to the teams methodology
Exceptional collaboration and communication skills
Experience coordinating the work of a small team of developers, potentially in different locations and time zones, taking ownership of a small to medium projects and running them from its inception to completion
