Job Description:
As part of the IT Operations team, the Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and application components.
A Network Engineer performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company and user satisfaction.
A Network Engineer also provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.
The candidate will provide support and maintenance for Network Infrastructure, including Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Wireless, and Load Balancers. Environment includes Cisco Nexus and Catalyst Switches, Cisco ASR and ISR routers, Cisco UCS, Cisco Multilayer Director, Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance, Palo Alto Firewalls, A10 Load Balancers, and Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers.
Administration and Maintenance of: Geographically spanned VLANS o VRF and OTV o VSS and VPC o HSRP / VSRP / VRRP o BGP / OSPF / EIGRP o MPLS wide area network o QoS policy and design O IPv6 addressing and routing Provide day-to-day operational monitoring and technical support for the networks routing and switching infrastructure. Monitor router and switch traffic performance and physical device and logical functionality.
Maintain appropriate architecture documentation and diagrams. Monitor the network performance, availability, and daily health. Provide customer support center (CSC) and infrastructure teams with network issue resolution and troubleshooting support.
Develop diagrams and documentation to support network configuration changes.
Manage and maintain all network switching and routing devices. Provide security, engineering, and operational technical support. Ensure switches and routers are maintained at the appropriate patch and software levels. Cisco annual inventory and vendor warranty validation.
Provide network enhancements and performance tuning to increase capability to support new requirements. Plan, test, and deploy firmware, software upgrades, and security fixes.
Performs research and development on routing and switching technologies that will provide advancements in network performance and security. Manage and execute projects that integrate new technology, scales the environment to meets the networks growing performance, security, functionality demands.
