Job Description
The Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer is primarily responsible for developing embedded firmware for power conversion products (UPS, Energy Storage products) and technology development projects. The senior engineer will own feature design, development, unit testing and support validation. Projects include developing firmware for proof-of-concept technology demonstrators, new products, new features, and bug fixes.
Duties:
Collaborate with global engineering teams in the development, test, and release of embedded firmware for CPDI product lines and technology development projects.
Own design and development of product features. Write and maintain functional specifications of design solutions.
Analyze the power system architecture and requirements to develop technical solutions to achieve product requirements.
Develop firmware that meets coding standards and product design requirements. Document and formally release embedded software following company procedures.
Develop test plans and monitor test results.
Lead firmware and functional design reviews at various product development stages.
Keep track of latest embedded software strategies, processes, and tools. Apply knowledge to power electronic applications.
Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or related Engineering degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of (4) years industry work experience in embedded firmware development OR
Master's Degree in Electrical or related Engineering degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of (2) years industry work experience in embedded firmware development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in design of complex state machines and closed loop controls.
Experience working on Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) systems
Experience with Model-based state machine design.
Design experience with UPS and/or power electronic products for high reliability.
Knowledge of embedded Linux.
Knowledge of modern software development processes. Experience with version control repository hosting services such as Bitbucket, SVN
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot analog and digital control circuitry.
Experience working on a cross-functional, world-wide development project.
Position Success Criteria:
Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge and experience embedded firmware development consisting of state machines, control algorithms and user interfaces.
Extensive Experience in C/C++.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of 3-phase power systems.
Ability to work lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical.
Ability to read schematics and interpret the behavior of electronic systems.
Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications.
Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Design experience with UPS and/or power electronic products for high reliability.
Embedded Linux experience.
