Habitat for Humanity is looking for construction staff to help build and renovate simple, decent homes for low-income families in the greater Baton Rouge area. The right candidate must be hard working, skilled, and capable of respectful and safe cooperation with a diverse team of volunteers, partner families, and staff.
Requirements:
Available to work the designated hours (typically 6:45-3:15, Tue-Sat)
Punctual and reliable. Coworkers and volunteers will be depending on your timely attendance.
Licensed to drive and have dependable transportation.
Physically able to perform construction tasks:
o Stand 8 hours a day.
o Bend at the waist and kneel repeatedly.
o Lift up to a hundred pounds frequently.
o Work outside in the elements daily.
Responsibilities:
Framing, siding, trim work, caulking, painting, and other construction related tasks
Coordinate/assist volunteers and partner families under the direction of the Habitat construction staff.
Site clean-up, warehouse organization and inventory.
Use of Habitat vehicles to pick up or deliver materials to and from Habitat sites or vendors.
Use of appropriate safety gear, including eye protection, ear protection and face masks where necessary.
Assist habitat staff with repair and warrantee work.
Experience
3 years of residential construction preferred.
Compensation
Starting at $16-20/hr DOE
2 weeks paid vacation per year after probationary period (3 months)
12 paid holidays
