Job Description:
The Boat Shop Technician reports to the clients Small Craft Program Manager and leads Boat Shop personnel in the repair of US Navy small boats at the clients shop facility. The scope of small boat repair includes engine replacements, electrical repairs, and electronic upgrades. The Boat Shop Technician works with the Purchasing Department to order parts needed to accomplish work under Navy Contracts and provides input to the Small Craft Program Manager for weekly progress reports. The Boat Shop Technician troubleshoots inoperative boat systems and conducts operational tests on the blocks and in the water.
Job Requirements:
Candidate must have two years of experience in civilian or military small boat repair and should have experience leading small teams. Experience with CUMMINS, CATERPILLAR, and DETROIT DIESEL engines preferred. Familiarity of sterndrive, jet drive, and full outboard driveline configurations is a plus. Familiarity with NAVSEA or ABS standards and drawings is a plus.
The candidate must be a U.S. citizen, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Driver License, have reliable transportation, be able to climb vertical/inclined ladders to access work areas aboard US Navy ships, be physically able to work aboard ships under varying environmental conditions (heat & humidity), and comply with OSHA safety regulations.
