Job Description



Located near the Nassau/Suffolk Border, our client was founded 40 years ago. Since its inception, they have expanded through mergers and internal growth. Their expertise ranges from accounting and auditing to tax and estate planning. Due to growth, they are currently looking for a full-time Audit- Accountant responsible for performing audit and accounting work as assigned.


This position requires you to be in the office 5 days a week.


The position offers a range of opportunities to grow in rank and proficiency through special assignments. Normal business hours Mondays through Fridays with the ability to work extended hours and Saturdays during tax seasons and statutory deadline periods.


Due to growth, they are currently looking for a full-time Accountant Audit Specialist responsible for performing audit work as assigned with a focus on 401K AUDITS.


MAIN QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting

  • CPA a plus

  • Experience Minimum 35 years public accounting; 23 years in audit

  • 401K Audit Experience is ESSENTIAL

  • Software Working knowledge of automated audit software; QuickBooks


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Develop accurate and complete audit workpapers that support audit observation and documentation

  • Create financial statements at audit completion

  • Review SOC 1 write ups and perform control walkthroughs

  • Execute testing procedures around cash, receivables, income, benefit payments, expenses, and other areas

  • Maintain effective working relationships with Partners and staff to review work and discuss changes, as needed, to ensure efficient workflow and excellent client relations

  • Audit benefit plans, corporate and partnership entities and prepare financial statements

  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheets and general ledger accounts

  • Execute fieldwork by performing audit testing through inquiry, observation, and reperformance; documenting results in workpapers

  • Review work within the team to ensure timely & accurate completion of audits

  • Assist staff with other accounting projects as required
