THE VENTURE

Neuroscience research has been growing rapidly over the last decade, bringing many new research insights, tools, and technologies that will transform our lives in the coming years. One such area is the promising field of voice biomarkers. Machine learning models can now analyze a person s voice (both linguistic and non-linguistic features) and identify early signs of several health conditions - from neurological conditions like Alzheimer s to cardiovascular diseases like Coronary Artery Disease. These ML models, if developed further for large-scale deployment, can transform the lives of millions of people around the world who develop these conditions by making early diagnosis more accessible, affordable, and actionable.

In order to bring this possibility to life, we are inventing new ways of introducing voice-based applications in the lives of people who could benefit from such biomarkers. As a founder s associate, you will be working directly with the founders to support, coordinate and occasionally lead various projects that come up during this process. A typical week with our team would expose you to a wide range of topics, skills, and responsibilities - ranging from brainstorming for new product ideas to interacting with potential users/customers and evaluating our business case for various ideas. We re looking for an individual who is keen and comfortable working in such diverse roles at the intersection of research, product design, and company building in an extremely hands-on way.

The venture that you will be working for is part of the world s first AI Venture Studio, Merantix. At Merantix Venture Studio, we build and scale machine learning companies. Through our unique incubation platform, seed financing and exceptional teams of visionary entrepreneurs and engineers, we transform world-leading research into products that will change existing industries and create new ones. Together with more than 60 AI teams, we operate from the AI Campus in the heart of Berlin. We are a big community of startups, scaleups, researchers, investors and enterprises that help and support each other with a shared vision of building disruptive technologies.

Your role

As a founder s associate, you will be the make things happen__ person within the core team. While the specific nature of tasks and responsibilities that come your way are hard to predict in advance, you can expect to spend a lot of your time involved in one or many of these activities:

1. Brainstorming for new ideas (skills: being able to communicate your ideas effectively and in a crisp way, confidence and clarity of thinking)
2. Interacting with potential users/customers (skills: being able to reach out to strangers and hold their attention in a conversation with you, willingness to put yourself in social situations)
3. Building interesting presentations, accurate excel sheets, and crisp documents (skills: identifying what s really important to say and saying it as simply and crisply as possible, using various tools)
4. Interviewing candidates for various positions (skills: being a good listener, being good at proactive communication and follow-ups)
5. Mining our network to identify potential for collaboration and partnerships (skills: building relationships, identifying opportunities, pitching ideas)
6. Building our social media presence (skills: being able to differentiate between good and great social media content, creating posts on Canva or similar apps, a bit of discipline to post regularly and generate community interactions, and a good sense of humour)
7. Reading, understanding, and explaining research papers and/or market research reports (skills: curiosity, patience)

Your profile

You should be able to convince us why you d be a great fit to work on the above activities that ll be a part of your role - maybe write us a short note to pitch yourself as a part of your resume (optional). In addition, these things will help:

• You have an undergraduate degree from a top- tier university
• You have prior experience in neuroscience, AI/ML or building your own startup
• You have worked in teams/companies that have built successful B2C apps
• You have a personal connection to the problem we are trying to solve

A couple of pre-requisites for applying:

• Fluency in English (since our founders are most comfortable in this language)
• 2+ years of experience
