Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) @Handshake

Handshake is bringing its mission to Europe, and they want you to be part of their growing development team to democratize opportunities for students in the EU! You will be adapting the core Handshake product to make it work for the European market. This will include building new experimental features, implementing core architecture, and craft new ways to help students find and build meaningful careers. You will be involved from design all the way to release; working closely with product, design, and engineering teams to create a fantastic experience for our users.

Tasks

• You get to architect and build new features for a rapidly growing user base.
• You will be involved from design to release, working on a small, multi-functional team with product, design, and engineering teams
• You ll help maintain a high level of code craftsmanship through thoughtful code review.
• You ll have the opportunity to make a broad impact on our Engineering team as a whole by leading complex initiatives around various scaling, reliability, and architecture challenges.
• You ll mentor junior engineers and share your experience and knowledge with senior engineers in order to level up the codebase as well as our shared knowledge.
• Working with the following technologies: Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, Webpack, Redux, Kubernetes, GCP, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Airflow

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional working experience as a web developer.
• Proven experience with Ruby on Rails and working with cloud infrastructure (GCP is preferred).
• You have an eye for good design and empathy for the customer and appreciation of friendly user experiences.
• You are self-driven and able to prioritize your time.
• You are a problem solver and a critical thinker who can communicate effectively.
